Style Illusions: Sculpting A Trim Waist with Frank Lyman Fashions
We all have areas of our bodies we’re not thrilled about, but with the right clothing and accessories we can build whatever shape we like most. For example, a lot of women prefer the look of a trim waist. If you weren’t lucky enough to be born with one, here are some tried and true style tricks that will make it for you.
Our Style Tips:
The easiest way to create a waist is to “draw” it with accessories. Skinny belts are great for this. They draw in a little once buckled, and the brain tends to exaggerate the dip for a distinctly smaller midsection. You’ll also want to wear the highest heels you feel comfortable with since height makes you seem slimmer all over.
Look for pieces that have ruching at the waist or decorative embellishment. Don’t worry about highlighting your waist.
If you are wearing a sweater, there should be enough movement for a natural flow. The cape above is a perfect example of a cape sweater that is sewn at the waist and is great to highlight your waist. The slight blousing above your pants will echo the curve of your hips, leaving a trim beltline in between. Multiply the effect by wearing high-waisted pants that elongate your legs and a well-tailored blazer.
You can fashion the biggest reduction in waist size by using strategically-placed shapes or patterns. Look for designs that point in towards your waist, not out. For example, the cutouts and sparkling embellishments on this chic dress by Frank Lyman arrow inwards. They create a lovely hourglass shape on every woman.
